The four albums in the "This & That" series are all alike in one respect . . . each includes various styles and genres. A few of the songs were written within the last five years whereas "Since The First Time" was written in the early seventies. You will notice in these albums that several of the songs have only voice and piano. You will also notice that a few of the songs are played on an acoustical piano. There's a certain nostalgia in the sound and I wanted to keep it that way. These particular songs were recorded live all on a single track through one microphone, in one take, and are therefore not edited and polished except for some volume adjustments where possible. I've seen the term "unplugged" on some albums (Eric Clapton comes to mind). So I guess these particular songs fall within this category. Bill Lowery, Publisher (#1 publisher in the world once and #1 publisher in The US twice, as I recall). Some of Bill's recording artists included the Atlanta Rhythm section, Classics Four, Joe South, Brenda Lee, Mack Davis and many others. I was fortunate back in that day to have an "open door" with him. He told me that the song, "If I Could Be The Cork In Your Bottle" would be a number one hit because he felt he could get Loretta Lynn to sing it (she was like the most popular female country artist at that time). I wanted him to proceed but he told me that we must wait until I had more songs to offer. Unfortunately, he retired (for the third time) before he called Loretta. I wrote additional songs but I missed out on that opportunity and really never approached any other publishers.
