Ruby Wine (10 Songs)

Ruby Wine (10 Songs)

61719 Post Ruby Wine Studio

Now that the new album has been completed, i want to take you into my studio and walk you through a few things.

Imagine a room with a computer, some recording software, a couple of keyboards, a microphone and headphones (this is not really expensive stuff . . . probably between $2,000 to $3,000). Now . . . your job is to create an album, in four weeks with no help and with no one else present at any time. In addition, because of family responsibilities and many distractions, there will be a very limited amount of time each day to work on the album. That was my scenario this past month. It was difficult but I really enjoyed it! I guess that when you can't do it as much as you like each day . . . when you can get to it . . . the anticipation is high and the available time is special.

Most of the songs were written from scratch in the four weeks. However, there were four songs that I had written decades ago that I amended and recorded on the new album.

As i read through this post, it appears that I am patting myself on the back and "tooting my own horn". If so, It was not my intent. I want to share the things I went through and some of my thought processes along the way. One can better appreciate the end result . . . the album . . . when they better understand the process. By the way . . . I drew the image, on the cover of the album, on a sheet of copier paper. I drew it because that was the image i pictured in my mind when I thought of the title song, "Ruby Wine". I never intended to use it for the cover until years later when I decided to include the Ruby Wine song in the new album.
